Occupational Safety and Health Management

NKUST implements various environmental protection and occupational safety and health management measures in accordance with the Occupational Safety and Health Management Plan. Through the Environmental Protection and Occupational Safety and Health Committee, the university regularly reviews and revises related plans on environmental protection, occupational safety and health, radiation protection, and fire safety. This ongoing process continuously enhances campus safety management mechanisms and improves campus environmental quality and occupational safety and health performance. The committee also provides channels for faculty, staff, and related units to express opinions, seek consultation, and communicate on occupational safety and health issues. Suggestions raised during meetings are consolidated by the Environmental Safety and Health Center and followed up for improvement according to the division of responsibilities. Faculty and staff may also report safety and health concerns through the Environmental Safety and Health Center, the occupational safety and health contacts of each unit, or the university affairs suggestion system. After receiving such reports, the relevant matters are forwarded to the responsible units for handling and serve as references for the ongoing revision of the occupational safety and health management plan.
With regard to education and training, all newly hired faculty and staff, regardless of employment status, are required to complete a 3-hour safety and health training program with a focus on sustainability. This training will be uniformly planned and conducted by the Environmental, Occupational Safety and Health Center.

Regular Health Examinations for Workers

Regular health examinations are conducted in order to safeguard the health of all faculty and staff, understand their health conditions, and prevent occupational injuries. In 2025, there were 214 employee health examinations conducted, including 10 special hazard work health examinations. For those with abnormal examination results, professional health guidance from medical staff was provided, and, when necessary, a specialist in occupational medicine was arranged to provide on-site health services, health education, guidance, and assessment, in order to reduce the incidence of disease and safeguard the health of all colleagues.

Campus Health Consultation

To promote the mental health of our faculty, staff, and students, NKUST engages a psychiatrist once a month at each campus every semester to provide professional consultation services for psychological functioning assessment and for mental and emotional distress, helping to clarify patients' physical and mental conditions and offering appropriate recommendations for future treatment. The resident physicians are primarily psychiatrists located near each campus. If, after assessment, further medical treatment was deemed necessary, they could also assist in providing information on suitable psychiatric medical institutions and physicians to facilitate subsequent medical referral. The Health and Hygiene Section Group is equipped with precision measuring instruments (including body composition analysis, height and weight, blood pressure, and vision testing devices) to provide faculty, staff, and students with self-health monitoring. Nurses provide consultations based on exam data, and a full-time dietitian provides guidance for healthy eating and nutrition education.
